Dogs

As I have already mentioned I love dogs, actually I love animals in general, they are so much more honest than people, there is no side to them, they either take to you or they don't end of story.

But of all domestic pets dogs are my favourite, not all dogs mind you, I'm not for instance overly keen on little yappie dogs, such as jack russels and their like, I'm not knocking them I know a lot of people love them and fair do's but the're not for me, likewise your fashion accessory dogs like pekingese and chihuahua, myself personally I don't see the point in them.

No for me its dogs like Border collies, German shepherds, Huskies, big dogs, what I call proper dogs, and the best of all for me myself are Lurchers, Deerhounds and Wolfhounds.

At this moment in time we happen to have one of each of these, well sort of, we first off acquired our Lurcher or more correctly called Long dog, as she is a cross between two sight hounds, mum being a Lurcher herself and dad being a deerhound.

Next we collected our Wolfhound and this is were the sort of comes in because she is actually a Wolfhound/Deerhound cross mum being the deer half and dad being the wolf, but as she takes more after dad in looks and build if not height, (she was the runt of the litter after all.) We class her as our Wolfhound.

And last but not least we come to our Deerhound who is just that a pure undiluted Deerhound, mum and dad both being Deerhounds. And he is a total and utter pain, but then again he is still a pup so you have to cut him some slack, though the grand-kids may disagree with that sentiment as he does have a tendency to use them as his personal chew toys whenever he can, so much so in fact that the youngest of the two that live with us, refers to herself as the dogs favourite chew toy to anyone who visits.

Seriously though I have never known such lovable dogs as these, at times they are more human than some humans I know, both in the looks they can give you, the sulks they can get in and the attention they demand.

They can be annoying, ingratiating, aggravating, lazy, boisterous and funny, and at times they can really get in your face!

No I mean really get in your face, many's the time I have had a wet nose shoved unceremoniously in my ear'ole when I am least expecting it, usually when I am sitting down trying to relax or read a book, these are big dogs remember, and many's the time I've had a cup of tea deposited in my lap or down the front of my shirt when the big-un decided she couldn't wait any longer to be stroked.

Actually now I come to think of it they are not my dogs, I am their human, I exist to pander to them, to get up and open the door when they want to go out, to fuss and stroke them when they want attention, to take them for walks when they feel the need for a little exercise, and to feed them treats whenever they think they deserve one, very similar to the grand-kids really, like I said more human than some humans.
